Canadian astronaut David Saint Jacques dropped by Beakerhead and was really impressed by the FIRST Robotics FRC demonstration put on by teams from FRCWest. So much so, in fact, that he has let us say that he really endorses FRC and FIRST programs as valuable programs for students.
FIRST programs really do inspire students, and thanks to you David for being an inspiration to them, and all Canadians alike.
The FRCWest team is at it again, this time setting up at Beakerhead, the “science and technology through art and culture” expo being held at Bankers Hall in Calgary. Looks like they have just enough space to have a mini Recycle Rush game. If you get a chance, go check it out!
This year’s FTC challenge was announced this past Saturday. It sure looks challenging! Good luck to all the FTC students this year, we will see you at the competition and we’re sure looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Edmonton FTC Team 5009, FIRST Inspire Award winners for three of the past four years, were already hard at work on solving this one. We visited their meeting on Saturday to see where they’d gotten too, and seems they already had their field setup, parts being manufactured, software being written, and a whole board of ideas and brainstorming. Looks like their team is really in the spirit of FIRST competition already!
